Environmental Heresy?I am deeply concerned with the environment. While it is frequently suggested that anyone questioning the green house gas theory is trying to destroy the planet, the opposite is true. I believe that the irrational GWS movement is the greatest threat to the environment and humanity in recent history, perhaps even the history of human existence. That’s why this page is here. |
Now here is a subject just made for skeptics and contrarians. If ever there was a time to point out the dangers of consensus as a justification, here it is. Be forewarned: we’re going to challenge the core beliefs of the religion which has formed around the green house environmental faith. As we pass this way, we allow ourselves to examine the fundamental assumptions, and rattle the tree of faith assembled by the Global Warming Society (GWS) and in so doing rattle the cages of it’s high priests and loyal followers. Have no fear, though, we’ll have plenty of fun on the way.
If you have accepted the often repeated statement that "a majority of the world’s scientists" accept the widely publicized view on Global Warming, the following articles are a threat to your faith. In researching the scientific literature and doing a bit of head scratching on my own, there is much to question.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean to suggest that radical climatic change is not possible: it is and may even be likely. Some of the more recent literature suggests a future potentially more dire than the GWS faith predicts, albeit a rather different fate. If you dare to continue, you will find that recent exploration of polar ice-caps suggests we may be heading for another ice age. You will discover that human respiration produces orders of magnitude more "green house" emissions than motor vehicles. You will find that actual repeatable measurements taken show that all living things contribute to the "pollution problem" in that they produce the "green house" gases, and that a single Volcano produces more of the evil stuff than all of humanities mechanical inventions. If you wade through this swamp, you will find dogmatic belief in what the GWS is offering up very hard to hold on to.
| Life and Granola: Is life the problem? Is granola the answer? | A side effect of the "fun with numbers": we produce more GSG by breathing than by driving, yet human respiration is only the start. So what to do about it? |
| Musings | Things that should make you go "hm": miscalaneous musings and rable rousing. |
| Fun With Numbers | Background, combining data from multiple sources (collected for different purposes) yeilds some fascinating, and to some, unexpected results. In the spirit of Mark Twain. |
